Matt Zenitz of CBS Sports is reporting that the Cowboys are expected to name Robert Muschamp to the role of defensive quality control coach. He's the nephew of Will Muschamp, the new defensive coordinator at Texas, an ex-staffer at Auburn and Georgia, and a former head coach at Florida and South Carolina.

Robert Muschamp has been the Chargers' defensive quality control coach for three seasons, being originally hired by Brandon Staley and then later retained by Jim Harbaugh.

Muschamp has also put in time at the college level, serving on staff at Tennessee and Georgia after his own playing career as a walk-on tight end at Auburn.

While with the Chargers, Muschamp first worked closely with the team's outside linebackers and notably helped guide Khalil Mack to a franchise single-season sack record as well as a Pro Bowl berth in 2023. He moved to the quality control role in 2024, mainly assisting defensive backs and working with the scout team.

In Dallas, Muschamp will be reunited with Chidera Uzo-Diribe, who was recently added to the Cowboys staff as outside linebackers coach. Both Uzo-Diribe and Muschamp were at Georgia for the Bulldogs' national championship season of 2022.

He'll also be back with Derrick Ansley, the Cowboys' new defensive backs coach and pass game coordinator; Ansley was the Chargers defensive coordinator during Muschamp's first year with the club.
