Speaking with PEOPLE on Feb. 6 during Super Bowl week at SiriusXM’s Media Row in San Francisco, Sanders was asked directly what he values most about Tran. His answer wasn’t flashy or long-winded. Instead, it was deeply personal.

“What I love most is her honesty of heart and soul,” Sanders said.
The couple first drew public attention in July 2025, when Tran appeared by Sanders’ side in a video series documenting his battle with bladder cancer. While neither has made a habit of publicly defining their relationship, that moment made clear how present Tran was during one of the most difficult periods of Sanders’ life.
According to Sanders, that support never wavered. Reflecting on his recovery, he credited Tran with helping him stay grounded and focused. “She was there,” he said. “She held me down. She kept me upright. She kept me straight. Kept me positive.”
Sanders, now 58, acknowledged that positivity is part of who he is, but still emphasized the impact Tran had at the time. “I’m already positive,” he added, “but she did the doggone thing.”

Those remarks echo comments Sanders made earlier this year on his We Got Time Today talk show, where he called Tran “a good woman” and spoke about how much she has added to his day-to-day life. “She has added so much to my life and my days and my moments,” he said during the January 2026 episode. “And I’m smiling.”
